{{Server client function}}
__NOTOC__
This function stores [[element data]] under a certain key, attached to an element. Element data set using this is then synced with all clients or the server. As such you should avoid passing data that is not able to be synced into this function (i.e. xmlnodes, acls, aclgroups etc.) Server-created elements are able to be synced.

==Syntax==

<syntaxhighlight lang="lua">
bool setElementData ( element theElement, string key, var value, [bool synchronize = true] )
</syntaxhighlight>

<syntaxhighlight lang="lua">
bool setElementData ( element theElement, string key, [bool synchronize], var value )
</syntaxhighlight>

===Required Arguments===
*'''theElement:''' The [[element]] you wish to attach the data to.
*'''key:''' The key you wish to store the data under.
*'''value:''' The value you wish to store. See [[element data]] for a list of acceptable datatypes.

===Optional Arguments===
*'''synchronize:''' Determines whether or not the data will be synchronized with the server (client-side variation) and remote clients (both variations).

===Returns===
Returns ''true'' if the data was set succesfully, ''false'' otherwise.

==Example==

This example allows for a player to add a custom tag onto their nickname, and also revert it back to normal if they wish
While MTA has been mentioned and reviewed in a lot of articles on the internet we will publish the most notable here.

* IGN | [http://pc.ign.com/articles/519/519510p2.html True Crime - Streets of L.A. review] | May 27 2004

''The on-foot combat modes, Dojo Master and Battle Master, feel more like minigames than full-fledged modes. Dojo Master, the melee mode, has exactly one round. You knock the guy out and boom, the round ends and you're kicked to a summary screen. And the camera was just plain not right, seemingly unable to properly pull back and frame the scene. I had to move myself out of the way of the camera many times so I could see what was going on. Battle Master, also known as "last man standing," is also exactly one round, with very small maps and only one life per player. '''All in all, multiplayer doesn't rise to the level of something I'd recommend over, say, Multi-Theft Auto'''.''

* IGN | [http://pc.ign.com/articles/605/605982p1.html GTA San Andreas PC Hands-On] | April 19 2005

''Other than that, there won't be any new content--no new vehicles, weapons, missions, et cetera. '''Nor will Rockstar add any multiplayer, but I think it's safe to expect another Multi-Theft Auto from the MTA Team not too long after release'''.''

* Gamespy [http://xbox360.gamespy.com/xbox-360/saints-row/718937p1.html Saints Row preview] | August 29 2006

''In spite of its popularity among console owners, it is PC gamers who've reaped the most benefits from the Grand Theft Auto series. '''Besides the numerous skins and tweaks available, one of the most infamous mods for GTA is the one known as Multi Theft Auto'''. The modification allows players to get online and battle against other players for dominance. '''The idea has extended to other sandbox-style games, but like their single-player counterparts, the MTA cloning worked about as well as the GTA cloning.''' That is, no one's really come close to emulating it. Anyone involved in Saints Row who says that GTA had no influence on their title probably also has some beachfront property in Omaha to sell you.

With that out of the way, THQ sponsored an event in San Francisco to preview the multiplayer portion of Volition's next-gen title. We didn't go near the single-player portion of the game, instead opting to stay on the designated path of system link gameplay to see how Saints Row performs. '''What we saw was the concept of what would be known as another GTA clone extended to its next logical point on the 360: cloning Multi Theft Auto.'''''

== Cómo empezó ==

== Historia ==

=== 2003 ===

* '''9 de febrero de 2003'''

* '''11 de febrero de 2003'''

* '''28 de febrero de 2003'''

* '''7 de marzo de 2003'''
[[Image:03betaclient.jpg|250px|right|thumb|Versión de desarrollo 0.3b]]

* '''18 de junio de 2003'''

* '''31 de diciembre de 2003'''

* '''4 de febrero de 2004'''

* '''23 July 2004'''

* '''31 de julio de 2004'''

* '''4 de agosto de 2004'''

* '''4 de septiembre de 2004'''

=== 2005 ===

* '''31 de enero de 2005'''

* '''25 de febrero de 2005'''

MTA desvela Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas.

* '''14 de junio de 2005'''

* '''29 de agosto de 2005'''

* '''8 de octubre de 2005'''

=== GTA3:MTA===

=== MTA:VC ===

=== MTA:SA ===

== Futuro ==

__TOC__
== Cliente MTA:SA ==

==Servidor MTA:SA==

* '''P: ¿Qué es xerces-c, por qué lo necesito y cómo lo instalo?'''

* '''P: ¿Dónde está el archivo mtaserver.conf?'''

* '''P: Mi servidor para inmediatamente después de arrancarlo'''.

<nowiki>
MTA:BLUE Server for MTA:SA
)
[12:28:41] CLOSE: Server stopped!
Press Q to shut down the server!
</nowiki>

archivos race.so: [http://light.mtavc.com/fixes/race-gcc-3.3.so race-gcc-3.3.so]
[http://light.mtavc.com/fixes/race-gcc-4.0.so race-gcc-4.0.so]

==Correcciones en 1.1==

Change the password before you first run the server

=== In-game MOTDs appear as nonsense ===
We noticed this during testing but it wasn't fixed. We'll fix it in the future. In the meantime, disable the motd by changing your mtaserver.conf (server admins) and use the rich motd instead.

=== Australian and German EXEs (and possibly others) may produce an "invalid executable" error when you try to start a game ===
As Australian and German EXEs don't work reliably with MTA, this shouldn't be a huge problem. Try to obtain a standard EXE.

=== The in-game help says the game is MTA 0.4, when it clearly is MTA 0.5 ===
Live with it
This is caused by server names that are greater than 49 characters in length. Please try to keep them less than this to avoid this happening.

''Fixed in server patch 1''

We've fixed the memory leak that was causing this. We've also fixed some other minor leaks that have existed since 0.4 (and earlier) so it should be better in general on that front.

=== Crash when Vice City is loading ===
Make sure you run Vice City at least once in Single Player without MTA before actually running it with MTA.

=== Freeze when client tries to display dialog asking for game path ===
There have been a couple of occurence of this, and we'd be interested to see why this is. You can avoid it by manually setting the path in the mta.ini in your game folder (not windows folder anymore). If you have this problem, can you please create a system info profile (Start -> Run -> "systeminfo > c:\sysinfo.txt") (no quotes) then email me the file sysinfo.txt on your c: drive (email is eAi[at]opencoding[dot]net).

For Vice City, your mta.ini should contain (replace the path if necessary):
[Game-VC]
Version=0
Location=C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\gta-vc.exe

=== Your client times out as soon as you connect to a server. Players all time out when they connect to your server ===

This has been an unknown problem for quite some time now, but it seems it is caused not by MTA or the MTA Server but by MTAMA, or more specifically scripts running on it. If the scripts send multiple messages to the player when they join it is highly likely to time them out. This results in nobody being able to play.

For now a fix is available for MTAMA [http://forum.mtavc.com/viewtopic.php?p=181919#181919 HERE] (hopefully GRS will also be updated soon)

Please follow Aeron's instructions regarding its use.

A big thank you to Mike for discovering the cause of this problem and Aeron for getting a fix out so quickly.

=== Server Name Length ===
''Fixed in server patch 1''

It seems that if a Server Name is set too high then Clients and Admins cannot connect to the Server (even though it starts correctly).

=== Crash on client startup ===
This might be causes by being unable to download the welcome message. This should only happen if the MTA site is down, or you aren't connected to the internet. If this is the case, it should try to download it for about 15 seconds - before it gives the crash. It might be possible to fix this by adding ''"DontGetLatest=1"'' on the second line of your "mta.ini" in your MTA folder (under "[Main]"). Alternatively, try creating a blank file called "mtaclientwelcome.dat" in your MTA folder - this is probably only relevant if this is the first time you've run the MTA 0.5 client.

'''Update:''' We've managed to replicate, confirm and fix this bug. Whenever we release a general patch, this will be fixed. In the meantime, ensure mtaclient.exe can access the internet through your firewall, or for on a LAN you can change the following value in mta.ini:
DontGetLatest=1

=== XFire crashes game during loading ===
Both XFire and MTA use similar methods for integrating themselves into the game. We've contacted XFire to offer our support for them in implementing it, so that it works, but they don't respond. If you wish to use XFire in MTA, contact XFire. In the meantime, disable Xfire before you play.

=== MTA says you have a trainer but you don't ===
Try closing every other open window first. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling, then reinstalling MTA 0.5 again. It has also been reported that changing game version from 1.0 to 1.1 (Vice City) can fix this, though we're not sure why - we're looking into it. Further Update: All the error reports that have come in about this are using Vice City 1.0. Try updating to 1.1, if this _doesn't_ work, contact me.

Update: It has been reported that "Kaspersky Anti Hacker" can set off this error. We advise that you close "Kaspersky Anti Hacker" if you wish to play MTA 0.5.

=== If you try to spawn as a Crusader twice, you get disconnected for trainer usage ===
We'll fix this issue in the next release, in the meantime, avoid using the crusader.

=== You join a server and are told you are banned, even though you aren't in the ban list ===
We're not sure what causes this, if anyone has any idea, please contact me (or someone else on the team). Of course, you may be banned by a over-general ban in the server's ban list.

=== In Vice City Stunt, RC vehicles can appear locked when you try to enter them ===
Stand directly in the middle of the RC vehicle (they aren't solid to cars or humans) and press the enter button. You should appear in the RC car.

=== Server: Attempting to connect to a server with Admin enabled and Admin + disabled, using admin+ causes the server to crash ===
''Fixed in Server Patch 1''

This has been fixed and is in the server patch 1. In the meantime, either disable Admin entierly, or enable Admin+. Remember to change the password for admin+ and admin from their defaults.

=== Vice City crashes when you try to get on a bike as passenger when it has no driver ===
This has existed as a problem ever since MTA first came out, I'm not sure if we'll bother to fix it. 3.4% of crashes we've logged are caused by this, so it may be worthwhile.

=== MTAMA (mirc admin) times out when you try to connect to a server ===
''Fixed in Server Patch 1''

This is a bug in mIRC. We've fixed the issue that was triggering the bug in mIRC and we'll be releasing the fix along with the next server update.

=== Your server doesn't appear in the server list, or appears as "unscanned" ===
This isn't an issue, but ensure that you have the correct port open for ASE to query through. This should be your server port plus 123. For example, with the default port of 2003, port 2126 should be open. This is UDP.

=== You recieve the error "ERROR: The ServerName, ServerPort, GameMap, GameHour, GameMins, Weather and BannedFile MUST be specified in the configuration file" when you run your server, and all fields are filled in ''Only under Server Patch 1'' ===
Ensure that your server name is 49 characters or less. This is a missleading error, we'll fix it in the server patch 1.

=== Client crashes when you join a server ===
''Fixed in next client release''

This crash may be caused by the client trying to download the rich text MOTD specified by the server and failing (e.g. the site its trying to get it from is down, or the URL is invalid). If this happens, the client will crash.

=== You have quite a few files on your computer called mtachat.txt ===
MTAchat.txt, as you probably guessed stores a chat log. This feature was added at the last moment and not propperly tested. Concequently, this problem has occured. This is probably due to how the client has been launched (the start path determines where it saves the chat, not the install path). Don't worry about it really.... We'll fix it in the next client version if we can. In the meantime, feel free to delete any files you don't want.

=== You recieve an error "System Error &H80070583 (-2147023485)" (or similar) when running the server config tool (or clicking "Setup Server" in the client) ===
This can be fixed by deleting the file called "MTAServerConfigTool.exe.manifest" in your Multi Theft Auto install folder.

=== Upon hitting Start Game the client informs you your CLIENT is modifed. ===
This is an error with the way we temporarily replace some of the games files. When you install take a back up of both weapon.dat and weapon.mta from the /gta?/data/ directory and put them somewhere safe. If you get this error close the client, REPLACE both files and retry.

=== An error appears that begins with "<font face="Arial" size=2>". ===
This means that an error has occured, but the error reporter system is overloaded and can't be sent the error report. Just click the button and ignore it.

=== Your virus scanner informs you that the Multi Theft Auto 0.5 executeable is a virus or malware ===
MTA does not contain any viruses, malware, adware or spyware. If your virus scanner informs you that it is infected, either you have a virus on your computer that is infecting your files, or one of our mirrors has been infected with a virus or your virus scanner is making a mistake. McAfee has been known to make this mistake. We've informed NAI of this, but they've yet to fix it. In the meantime, disable your virus scanner while playing. Also, ensure you only download from this site. This link is hosted by our webhost. Use this if you doubt the validity of your copy of MTA.

=== You get a crash at the address 652f30 when starting the game ===
This is caused by having the incorrect GXT file. To fix this, copy all the gxt files from the Grand Theft Auto Vice City\TEXT folder except the "american.gxt" into the Grand Theft Auto Vice City\MTA folder. You should also ensure you game language is set to english.

=== Linux servers have a default admin password set ===
Change the password before you first run the server

=== In-game MOTDs appear as nonsense ===

=== Sometimes the url of the Rich MOTD is appended to the server name when it appears in the client ===
''Fixed in server patch 1''

This is caused by server names that are greater than 49 characters in length. Please try to keep them less than this to avoid this happening.

=== Server's memory usage increases very quickly ===
''Fixed in server patch 1''

We've fixed the memory leak that was causing this, and we'll be releasing a fix for it shortly. We've also fixed some other minor leaks that have existed since 0.4 (and earlier) so it should be better in general on that front.

=== Crash when GTA3 is loading ===
Make sure you run GTA3 at least once in Single Player without MTA before actually running it with MTA.

For GTA3, your mta.ini should contain (replace the path if necessary):
[Game-GTA3]
Version=1
Location=C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\GTAIII\gta3.exe

=== Your client times out as soon as you connect to a server. Players all time out when they connect to your server ===

== Introduction ==

MTA's Deathmatch game mode has been around since the very beginning of MTA's existence, and has always been the most popular.

The aim of this game mode is to kill the other players. There are a variety of spawns, each with a different skin and different weapons.

== Alternate usage of the Deathmatch mode ==

Since around MTA 0.4.1 times (now on 0.5), the Deathmatch game mode has started to be used as a base for other modes such as RPG. RPG stands for Role Playing Game. The two most popular RPG servers at present are the [http://www.abplayground.net Ankeborg's Playground RPG] server, and the [http://www.argonathrpg.com Argonath RPG] server. Both servers have strong member base, which have come to form their very own online gaming communities.

The rules on which this style of pure RPG is based originated from [http://www.abrules.net Ankeborg's RPG Rules], where you are encouraged to take on a role and told not to attack or kill people, which is the total opposite of actual pure Deathmatching; even though it takes place on the MTA 0.5 Deathmatch Map.

A problem with using the Deathmatch game mode for RPG is that some people misunderstand the concept, and treat the RPG servers as if it were a Deathmatch. This normally results in the administrators banning the so called "Non-RPG'ers" or "Deathmatchers".

Regular Deathmatch still remains most popular if RPG is counted as a seperate game mode.

== History ==

Upon the release of Vice City, the team decided to switch from GTA3. This also was a time of great change within the team itself, as it had merged with the team members from YAMM (Yet Another Multiplayer Mod) and switched from Visual Basic to C++. Consequently, the first release of MTA: Vice City was very stable in comparison with its predecessors and many of the netcode problems from GTA3:MTA 0.3b were no longer apparent. The release was met with success.

MTA:VC 0.2.2 then added [[Stunt mode]] in addition to the already successful deathmatch mode. This was never as popular though.

The release of MTA:VC 0.3 finally offered player movement animation synchronisation. This stopped players from "floating" around and made the game much more realistic. 0.3 is considered by some people to be the best version of MTA:VC Deathmatch.

0.4 added many features such as spectator mode (useful for spotting cheaters) and a new spawn menu, but most of the development time had been spent on the GTA3 aspect, which the client also supported. Several adjustments to the weapons had been made in an attempt to balance the gameplay but some players complained about this.

0.5 mainly fixed bugs with the previous version. Again, much of the work in 0.5 had gone into GTA3's deathmatch and Vice City's [[Stunt mode]] so not many new features had been added. However, the weapon damage levels had been tweaked again. This caused problems within the community as many players believed that the weapons were underpowered now and complained about the fact that you could no longer jump with the stubby. This prevented a glitch that some players had used to an unfair advantage in 0.4, but several glitches still existed.

The future: MTA: Vice City will one day be converted to run on the [[Blue]] core. This should solve many of the problems. This will be after MTA: San Andreas is complete though.

== 0.5 Deathmatch ==

In the current version of MTA:VC (0.5, at the time of writing), there are 6 playable spawns and a spectator mode.

The spectator mode is pretty unstable though, however it has proven to be useful for server administrators.
This prevented a glitch that some players had used to an unfair advantage in 0.4, but several glitches still existed.

The future: MTA: Vice City will one day be converted to run on the [[Blue]] core. This should solve many of the problems. This will be after MTA: San Andreas is complete though.

== 0.5 Deathmatch ==

In the current version of MTA:VC (0.5, at the time of writing), there are 6 playable spawns and a spectator mode.

The spectator mode is pretty unstable though, however it has proven to be useful for server administrators.

== Introduction ==

== History ==

In the current version of MTA:VC (0.5, at the time of writing), there are 6 playable spawns and a spectator mode.

The spectator mode is pretty unstable though, however it has proven to be useful for server administrators.

==Introduction==
Car-killers is a term given to people who choose to consistently kill by hitting other players with their cars. It is generally frowned upon by the more elite members of the community and generally attributed to newer players. Some servers went so far as to ban people who car kill.

Car killing really became a problem when MTA 0.4 was released because GTA3 support was reintroduced. In GTA3, car hits are instant kills whereas in they are not in Vice City, giving the victim an opportunity to escape death.

This caused many discussions on the forum about how to deal with the "problem". Some people suggested that it was not a problem, as the game was called Grand Theft ''Auto'' after all, and players should be free to choose how to perform their kills. They claimed that players should learn to spot would-be car killers on their radar.

Others disagreed, saying that it was too easy to car kill people and that there was no skill involved. They claimed it was frustrating to have a long fight with someone and be close to killing them when someone appears out of nowhere and runs you over.

There was controversy when the most popular server, the Partyserver, introduced a no car-killing rule. Many people stopped playing GTA3 and went back to Vice City. This rule was later revoked but GTA3 is still not nearly as popular as Vice City.

Multi Theft Auto: San Andreas is built upon a new core codenamed "[http://www.mtablue.info Blue]" which has been in development for two years. Blue represents a major shift in the team's focus because they will be providing users with all the tools they need to create their own game modes and leaving much of the game mode creation to third parties. There will be a few "default" game modes included with the installation package though. The first release of ''MTA:SA'' includes vehicle racing only. Deathmatch is expected at a later date once the team have fully synchronised shooting and balanced the gameplay.

=== Feature summary ===
* Optimised netcode results in reduced lag.
* Blue loads a DLL with the game instead of injecting code into its memory process. This improves stability and means that custom SCM files do not have to be moved to the game's directory when it is started.
* Full integration means that Blue's server list is directly integrated into ''GTA'''s GUI.
* Fewer glitches. This is achieved by synchronizing every animation, implementing a custom pause menu so that people can't pause to escape death, and forcing the frame limiter on so that everyone's game runs at the same maximum speed.
* Greater synchronization means that all animations, skins, weapons and vehicles are now available. This means that ''MTA'' players can finally use boats.
* Modification support through C++ means that complex game modes can be created, unlike the rudimentary ones possible with MTA:mA at the moment.

The advanced nature of the Blue core has allowed them to place a sophisticated WYSIWYG editor into MTA:SA for adding checkpoints, spawn points and power-ups. It also allows users to place extra models into the game such as ramps, roads, trees and exploding barrels.

[[Category:MTA 0.5]]

== Download en Installatie ==

Als he get nog niet gedaan hebt, klik dan [http://mtavc.com/mta05/download.htm hier] om MTA 0.5 te downloade en start de installatie

[[Image:05 installer.PNG]]

[[Image:05 installer selection.PNG]]

== De eerste keer ==

[[Image:Mta 05 welcome.jpg]]

[[Image:Clientwelcome nick.jpg]]

[[Image:Clientwelcome server.jpg]]

[[Image:Clientwelcome server list1s.jpg]]

== Het spel starten ==

[[Image:Clientwelcome chat.jpg]]
